Architect, since 1998 Associate Professor (scientific sector ICAR/12 Architectural Technology) at the Faculty of Architecture of Roma Tre University.
He has held the course of Technological Culture of Design.
He currently holds the Laboratorio 3: Construction of Architecture in the Degree in Science of Architecture, and the Architectural Technology course in the Master’s Degree in Architectural Design.
He is a professor of the Master’s Degree in Housing: New ways of living between innovation and transformation and the Master’s Degree in Eco-sustainable design.
He ‘has been a member of the Board of the Dottorato di Ricerca in Technology of Architecture at the University of Chieti-Pescara.
Now is member of the Board of the Dottorato di Ricerca in Sustainable Urban Design and of the Scientific Council for the Master in Sustainable Design at the University of Roma Tre.
He is interested in the building envelope and with all structural aspects related to the control and optimization of the energy behavior of buildings.
He has coordinated, as scientific director, many studies on the subject, and he has achieved, through a contract financed from the XI Department for Educational Policy and School of the City of Rome, a pilot project for upgrading the energy efficiency of school buildings in Rome, with synergistic active and passive strategies.
He coordinated, as responsible for energy and building strategies, the Med in Italy team, the first Italian team to be admitted to the second stage of the international competition Solar Decathlon and then be invited to carry out the construction proposed in Madrid. The team Med in Italy ranked first in sustainability, first in functioning of systems building, third in architecture, third in balancing production/consumption, third communication, and third in innovation, going up the podium with third place at the Solar Decathlon Europe 2012.
He has coordinated, always as responsible for energy and building strategies, the Italian team admitted to the final stage of edition of Solar Decathlon 2014 in Paris-Versailles with a new project and a new prototype, which is ranked 1st overall.
In particular has dealt:
– the definition of the general strategies for optimizing the energy performance of the building
– the conception and envelope design with variable mass
– the characteristics of the envelope stratigraphy regard to the insulation, breathability and water and wind resistance
–┬áthe innovation of the constructive aspects related to the speed of assembly, taking care of all stages of prototype unit that was to be brought in competition
– the coordination for the construction of prototypes both at manufacturing plants in Italy, and on the competition field in Madrid in 2012 and in Paris-Versailles in 2014.
