A memorandum of understanding was signed between Roma Tre University and the Chinese Ministry of Education

Rome, 6 October 2025 - Roma Tre University and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of China (Taiwan) have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at developing, within the Department of Foreign Languages and Cultures, Foreign Literature and Culture. The Taiwan Studies project entitled ‘Understanding Contemporary Taiwan and its International Position’ with the overall aim of promoting education and research in the humanities, culture, society, politics, economics and technology of Taiwan.
 
The ceremony was attended by Ambassador H.E. Vincent Tsai, Secretary Gregorio Kuo-Rey Tzeng, Secretary Michelle Shun-Ping Hsu, Rector Prof. Massimiliano Fiorucci, Director of the Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures and Cultures Prof. Simone Trecca and Prof. Rosa Lombardi.
 
The agreement marks a new phase of academic and cultural collaboration, aimed at strengthening ties between Italy and Taiwan in the fields of education and research.
The specific objectives of the project include:
1.    Promoting lasting relations between Taiwanese universities and Roma Tre University, as well as with international and European centres dedicated to Taiwanese studies.
2.    Enhancing scientific collaboration with Italian, international and Taiwanese scholars specialising in Taiwanese literature and history, global politics, international and transatlantic relations, economics and information technology.
3.     Strengthen understanding of Taiwan's role as an Asian democracy, highlighting its economic importance and strategic position in the contemporary geopolitical context.
The initiative represents a significant step in consolidating academic relations between Italy and Taiwan and offers new prospects for the dissemination of knowledge and international cooperation.
