The FIS 3 Call, the results of which were recently announced by the Ministry, allocates € 475 million to fund research projects with a high level of scientific excellence, carried out by early‑career researchers (Starting Grant), mid‑career researchers (Consolidator Grant), and established researchers (Advanced Grant). The main objective is to promote the development of fundamental research, following the consolidated approach of European practices inspired by the European Research Council (ERC) model.
Out of 86 project proposals submitted, Roma Tre University was awarded over €8.7 million, with six funded projects, plus one additional project deemed eligible, which may be activated in the event of a ranking scroll.
For the PE Sector (Physical Sciences and Engineering), the funded researchers are:

- Filiberto Bilotti (Systems and Communication Engineering – Advanced Grant)
- Giorgio Cipolloni (Mathematics – Starting Grant)
- Cristoforo Demartino (Products and Processes Engineering – Consolidator Grant)
- Alfredo Sciortino (Condensed Matter Physics – Starting Grant)
- Angelapia Massaro (The Human Mind and Its Complexity – Starting Grant)
